Anybody who played MGS here? If you have, you realise that its a movie that you are “playing”. Huh? Well what I mean is that most of the time you are watching the long in-game video rather than playing the game.

Thats how Hideo Kojima creates his game. He sets a story, a plot in place through the video and then wants you to take storyline ahead. With movie like graphics now possible with hardware like the Sony PS3 and XBOX 360, no nows complaining, since its a delite to watch.

However you need to have a strong storyline to grip your audience’s attention or you have people skipping the video and jumping on directly to the game action scenes. This ultimately diminishes your gaming experience since you land in a gaming scene without making sense of what is really going on with the story or plot.

Heavy Rain, a yet to launch game from the people who made Fahrenheit (2005) (Indigo Prophecy) with the “Quantic Dream” gaming experience indulges in “the movie game” characteristics but with a difference.

The game offers the player a host of choices that he has to choose from. And his decisions could result in dramatic and drastic results. This keeps you gripping on to your seat wondering “what next if I choose this option”?

Wondering what I am talking about? Why dont you watch this video shot of the gameplay, courtesy Carl Rushworth, where he was “dreaming” while flexing the PS3 controller over the “Hassan’s Shop” game level in Heavy Rain on PS3 (arrrggghhh… if he is flexing a PS3 controller, it has to be PS3 console right?)

BTW, this was at the recent Eurogamer Expo 2009 and check out the name “Heavy Rain”, sounds filmy right? err… movie game is that why? You could pass your comments down below & let me know…
